I think the impact on both children has been incredible. Their mood visibly lifts after being on their PACE zoom meetings. It has given both of them much needed continuity and a creative distraction during what is a really difficult time for everyone, but especially for young people.
It’s something she looks forward to every week and has become a real source of routine and place of joy and excitement for her during a time when she has been feeling her anxiety harder than ever!
Change of Pace is a great way to stay in touch with friends and to continue to develop theatre skills, it has helped me massively during lockdown.
Thank goodness for these online classes during lockdown and beyond. These have been so valuable for my son during this strange time. It has been so nice to see get the chance to be creative and enjoy mixing with new people.
PACE has a legacy of turning out a plethora of Scottish talent and it is so important for our cultural life that we don’t lose a generation of its young people. It instilled confidence in them and a sense of fun that is needed now more than ever.

PACE Theatre Company is based in Paisley and was formed in 1988 and is a registered charity specialising in work with children and young people. It runs PACE Youth Theatre – the largest youth theatre of its kind in the UK, working with around 1,000 young people ages 3-21 every week. It also produces professional theatre productions including Paisley’s annual pantomime to audiences of over 17,000 every year, tours schools with educational performances, and manages the Wynd Auditorium venue. We are passionate about the power of theatre and creativity to improve the lives of young people.
PACE is run by a core team of twelve permanent staff, employing over 40 freelance artists and technical staff, and 15 part-time front of house staff. We have a bursary and concessionary place scheme to help as many young people as possible gain access to life-changing arts skills and inspiring opportunities.
Former PACE Youth Theatre alumni include Richard Madden, James McAvoy, Paulo Nutini, James McArdle, Amy Conachan, Kevin Guthrie, Scott Reid, Shauna MacDonald and many more.
