Kaleidescope: Maths Week Scotland 2019

An interactive performance to promote the use of a mathematical growth mindset.

Kaleidescope has been developed in partnership with David Duncan, a primary school teacher and theatre practitioner. Using acting, singing, movement, discussionand interaction, we will raise awareness of the 5 Cs of mathematics engagement: curiosity, connection, challenge, creativity, and collaboration.

The performance folows the story of a young maths learner named Alex who, like many children, often thinks: ‘I can’t do that, I’m just not a maths person!”  Participants will join Alex on a journey of discovery, discuss the importance of stretching our brains and expanding the way we think; take part in challenges and work together to solve puzzling problems.

Our show encourages and grows mathematically positive mindsets and self-belief: bringing theatre and maths together in a unique, stimulating and interactive learning experience.

This show really helped my class and myself think positively about making mistakes. It has completely altered out attitudes towards learning in maths and the children were gripped by it!“-P7 class teacher, Netherlee Primary
I always enjoy when PACE comes to work with the kids as they are always excellent! Thank you for a very enjoyable and educational experience.” – Teacher, St Bosco Primary
