Following the government announcement yesterday evening, we wanted to let you about our plans for the immediate future as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. Things are still changing almost hourly and we are continually reviewing what is possible.
From today, all remaining youth theatre workshops until the end of term on 26th March will not now take place. We had hoped to continue offering our young people a creative respite from everything else that is going on by continuing to run classes for as long as it was safe to do so but it is clear that right now that will not be possible.
For those members involved in our Now festival of performances, this and all associated rehearsals will be postponed until it is practical to restage them. We know how hard members have been working on these and have been looking forward to the performances so want to convey that we are still committed to staging them as soon as we can. Tickets will remain valid for new dates but refunds will be available on request if required.
Our Easter ‘Fest!’ activities are currently under review. As things stand it looks like they will be unlikely to go ahead in their current form. We are however aware that for many parents, particularly those in industries severely affected by this crisis, child-care like this can be of assistance. If there is anything we can do, safely and within the parameters of current advice, we will try to do so. We will also be guided by advice relating to schools and school closures. Tickets for shows will be refunded. If cancelled, fees will be credited to your account to use for future activities or refunded if required.
You will no doubt be aware of the worrying situation PACE, like many others, suddenly finds itself in as an arts organisation and charity. Over 90% of PACE’s income comes from fees and ticket sales. We are asking all our members to bear with us during this difficult time and to consider re-donating or delaying any refunds required. It is at times like these the support of our PACE community means more than ever before.
We also recognise the considerable mental health impact of this crisis on young people and we realise the impact that our temporary closure could potentially have on our own members, particularly at this very difficult time. We are currently planning to, where appropriate, move some of our activity onto online platforms if classes cannot take place. The PACE team are working hard to look at innovative and creative options for this and will bring you an update as soon as we have it. The very essence of PACE is about our community of young people having a place to come together and we want to ensure that the support that it offers young people, particularly at difficult times like this, can continue in some way. This is going to be a very challenging time for PACE and for the arts sector as a whole and we appreciate your patience, understanding and support as we find ways to navigate this unprecedented and ever-changing situation.
