Endeavour Showcase – Friday 19th June 2015 – Wynd Centre Auditorium 7pm – tickets on sale , PACE Box Office
Funny show title, but for this showcase highly significant.
Endeavour marks the final stage in the audition process for PACE’s new elite performance project – THE SPACE.
The PACE SPACE launches in August 2015 and for the past 6 months , suitable first candidates have been rigorously preparing, by undergoing, perhaps harder , more self motivated work , to allow them to access the teaching that will form the artistic core of SPACE performance work in future.
All sounds a bit grand and scary doesnt it?
But ….a necessary process, to make sure that we have those few members, filled with enough ” Right Stuff” for this kind of PACE , in the very beginning, to make it to the “Mhairi” end.
It’s not going to be for all , but it is maybe for a lot more than might first imagine.
Nothing is ever absolute in PACE. There is never just the one path taken. Show projects by their very nature – change you.
And where as you may have started out with just a weekly hobby, through involvement in other PACE things , you often realise that there is more to your drama than first meets the eyes.
The trick is to keep an open mind about your potential. To not say, ” that’s not for me ” , just because of what trickles drown through the PACE grape vine to your ears.
Everyone has a story to tell about this “side” of PACE and how it is or was for them whilst part of it .
And for every one that it didn’t work for , there are hundreds more that it did. That’s important to remember , because sometimes it’s easy to focus on the negative experience and not the countless good ones.
” chacqu’un a son gout” as they French say (each to their own)
It’s what you put in , that determines , what you’ll get out of this creative ” way “.
Of course it’s going to be about the sometimes sacrifice, the facing yourself in the drama mirror , to get a real better look at the world you’ve made for yourself and the kind of future you might want to imagine with a lot more personal effort.
Starting a bit younger is always going to be more advantageous. And really s3/4 is a good benchmark for the change we seek.
But it doesn’t mean that s5/6 can’t come in late. Turnarounds can happen over night if the focus is right.
Richard Madden Prince Charming star of CINDERELLA is always someone I think of as a great example of PACE Theatre School work in the past , who as an s6 pupil, over just 9 months , went from 0-60 in a matter of drama seconds.
If you want to make it work for you later , you will – simple as. Time becomes more precious and every moment counts.
Any better performance needs passion to light up the stage in a brighter way. Stars after all are ” 5 ” dimensional, not just 2.
The showcase this Friday night is a chance to see 5D youth theatre in action
To maybe find the inspiration towards making a bolder step into the unknown when returning after summer. To infinity and beyond ….
The Odyssey process ( first round of SPACE audition will begin again in January 2016 ) and we hope that there will be new SPACE jumpers on board , ready to shuttle over to this “extra” ordinary PACE side.
We are confident SPACE work is going to envigorate those members off PACE who strive to always try something different, who seek…enlightenment. Who Go!
We know it will change them – for Good.
I hope to see some new curious faces in the audience on Friday, even just to put the PACE drama myth to bed , that it’s all just hard work and no play.
We sing , we dance, we act , we feel , we shine !!!
Can’t say better than drama that….
But you can’t say anything unless you surely see for yourself? Can you ?
