And we’re off !
Starting from our Panto Land’s Capital – the City of light ( Cite de la lumiere ) as Paris is otherwise known!
Its’ famous city landmark – L’Arc de Triomphe – magnificently standing in the background , reminding us of our Panto-Best team heritage , the “best teams” that have proudly gone before us , in our quest to be the most amazing Panto ever.
And as we race down the Champs Elysees ( the Elysian Fields ) , here ” en velo ” ; we are once more remembering those “heroes” of panto past who went the “extra” glorious mile for their Christmas time in PACE.
It may look like October outside , but the heat is still on , as we eye up the competition around us: Les Blues , Les Rouges , Les Jaunes and Les Verts ( flagging slightly after a bit of an << Awh Hee Haw >> start on Tuesday) but !!!! still very much in the pack and in the race to finish first…so no quivering green lips !!
There was a strong RED and BLUE presence in the space last rehearsal , a focus and energy and ” esprit de corps” ( Team Spirit ) more obvious to see ; whilst a less energetic ‘sun’ shone occasionally for YELLOw , and well , the Greens seemed to just stop , get off their bikes and decided to ” wander ” around not quite knowing where they were going?
Zut alors !
It’s frustrating not to finish a stretch of this gruelling rehearsal “road race” , it’s annoying isn’t it ? …not to get that perfomance PACE going as you pedal more powerfully through this difficult process !
It’s frustrating , when something in your TEAM bike , doesn’t work properly !
It can just be one tiny thing , a chain kink , a loss of air in a well pumped tyre , a handle that comes loose and wobbles .
That’s why you have to all keep ” a well oiled team machine” to do this panto race justice !
You have to look after each other , make sure all the parts of the team are working as they should , that there aren’t any ” loose ends , or bits that might fall off along the way , especially when we reach the mountain stretch in early November , when the steep climb to the top of << Les Pyrenees >> takes place !
…when you have to dig deep into your personal performance , find the extra energy and focus to keep going !
… to only see the Top and not the steep slope that you think you’ll never get beyond
That’s when real performance athletes shine , in any sport, profession , or Team
The willingness to push through the hard stuff , to not waver in your determination to finish the race , despite the shouts and the twists and turns , the ups and downs and the inevitable fear of failure to come!
Okay so this is some straight “team talking” here from your “chef d’equipe” . And though I can “coach” anybody on the PANTO playing field , I can only direct your talent better – if you are PASSIONATE about the GAME .
Already I have flagged up a few ” Panto players” to my linesman <> for her to watch closer as we go. A few doubts on “stage fitness” circling my mind.
Players who even on Tuesday were slow off the mark , and who appeared to not fully understand the level of comittment that is going to be needed in terms of personal energy levels and better attitudes within team practise to get to the opening show “kick off” ??
Remember what you signed up for here …no one said this was going to be a ” cake walk ”
You just can’t do this as a FEST or PACE group presentation .
It’s a professional engagement, and you are entering the ” Big League ” in terms of producing something PACE acting worthy.
Your mindset has to be that of a ” winner ” not as just a
” participant ” – your mindset has to be success , personal success not easy for easy sake.
Much as I want you all to experience this run , all the way to the finish line at the end of December. Because it is good for you and helps you access other projects in PACE here after . But only if you do this well.
If you are not strong , not focused enough as a performer – you won’t make it. You can’t make it , because you risk the perofmance of ” the Team ” going down with you.
It’s a tall order for a 10 year old. A struggle for some 13 year olds and a yet there is a “13 year old” leading the way here in the most amazing way – it’s about dedication and that winning attitude, that makes heroes ( heroines ) in this PACE race.
So stop making excuses for not wanting to try harder to get this., even right at the start , when it matters most . How you start is how you will finish. The bit in between is just the unknown adventure that we call show business.
This show is about TEAM effort and that’s why if your Team Leader sets the Acting bar at their level it is up to you to jump that high to sit on it with them!
You can’t set your own drama group bar lower because that’s maybe comfortable for you , easier to work with or less effort to reach . But it’s never going to last the pace here.
If everybody worked at their own level in your Team , the passion would go from 20 right down to 1 and every stage in between.
It would be << AWH HEE HAWFUL>> to watch!
So we must rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise and rise , form the weakest to the strongest position we can in our time
Leap and our wings will appear on stage.
That’s how cyclists in a Tour De France pack think.
They see the block ahead and they move past it , until everything in their way is gone and they are “out front” and excited only for the clear and open road ahead !
You all need to become one cyclist in the TEAM end.
A leader in BLUE, RED, GREEN or YELLOW.
Wearing <>>with pride with d’aplomb !
Ugh oh ! Bend in Sunday’s road up ahead – we’re in at 2-5pm , shorter time , and all together again,
So there could be some jostling for position within the “team packs” as some less experienced cyclists may not get used for a while ….
They might even , fall back again in the pack , losing their focus as other performance cyclists with professional heart monitors seem to speed ahead with ease.
That’s the danger of using less experienced performers in a panto cast , because they don’t yet realise everything takes time to block , everything takes a long time to get right … to make it look as good as it should , in a PACE Professional stage way.
I worry that some 1st time panto players just don’t get that , and maybe without a better attitude they never will ?
Lest hope each team carries all its “cyclists” over the finish line as one complete CYCLE, one gleaming TEAM , one Arc de Triomphe !!!!
See you all ( full casts in all teams ) on Sunday 4th October – 2pm – 5pm – SPIRES 1 .
