SPACE Blog – Nathan McGregor
What to write that is the question.I have already sat down & wrote a blog recently about the fashion & art but after reading it again it just didn’t seem right.
Something was missing,It felt little hollow even though I enjoyed the writing. It never spoke enjoyment. realised I shouldn’t go looking for the words but rather let the words find me.
CapMon I guess is the next step to a new Verona.
Chance to show our creative skills in a different form.A chance to work alongside to the opposite house as well which is interesting because even though some of us may have worked together before but not in the setting of Capulet & Montague.
It’s a lot different I must say from the usually Verona feel. Not as much tension I think even though its still brewing in the wind. When I first found out our challenge would involve Fashion I wasn’t as worried as I thought I would be.I kinda like fashion.I love the different styles from all around the world & the different styles of the years. Favourite Styles are 1920’s with Flapper & suits dancing to beat of the music.
I was lucky enough to have chance to take a wonderful trip to Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival.Got a chance to walk the mile & see some art galleries. One was the Charles Avery Ingleby gallery now he isn’t a fashion designer but an artist.Very good one as well because to me he was so real literally you could view a painting, see something in the painting & then turn around & see it sculptured. Our challenge is really creating art through fashion so one sculptured he created was “Untitled (Progressionist)”
Very interesting Head piece because does it represent how our minds can be creative who knows that could be me just assuming something that might be nothing but it caught my attention. Now I wanted to see what else artist may use fashion for or maybe Fashion may use art.
One Design that I have worked with is Projection.Imagine having endless possibilities of a dress through projection. You see a picture could be a political statement or just a simple beautiful sunset.Projected on a white dress. The possibility is infinite.
Then there is the abstract part of fashion. The shoe hat 1937-1938 (made) by Elsa Schiaparelli its very interesting some may say ugly & weird but still interesting to see on someones head.If you don’t know Elsa Schiaparelli she created most directly surrealist works with Dali.
Now to the walk.
I guess the next step is our own fashion step. Individually & house.”Style is a way to say who we are,Without having to speak.”I’m Looking forward to see us all on the walk & see how each house takes on the Brief their own way.I think this will be be project to remember. One to look back & smile,Laugh maybe even cry who knows but one to look back.Go through the future saying hey I walked the walk with some amazing people. Also such a light hearted start to panto as well.
See you all on the fashion
