Colleen will shortly be sending you details of your Sunday BRANCH 1 workshop slot for NTC 15.
And in the spirit of keeping the Green theme going here I have split the large group interested into TWIGS 1&2
I suppose it was logical to go on upper and lower secondary age groups ( a couple cross over) but don’t let this lull you into any false sense of friends security – the eventual cast may well be mixed and happily span the age range from 13-17.
Most Youth Theatre’s in the UK ( not our size ) have one group with a mixed age range, so would do this par the course; as I always say ” drama is a leveller ” and age is a state of mind – if you mind – youll never MATTER here.
Talent is the sole ideal that will unite REmOTE on stage.
For info :
Please wear casual clothes and bring any “technological aid” you might require to help you access the info you needed to complete as part of this starter workshop and to access the PInterest link site too .
We will be referring to all this background research as the basis for this stage 1 workshop.
The “walk in the park” is no joke – do it before sunday – keep your eyes wide open and bring in something from the “natural environment” – very ‘method’ acting and enough to set the mood of trees and nature in connection to the play – especially over the first few pages of text
( we will be ‘climbing trees’ in more ways than one as part of this journey and will likely be ” GOING APE ” at some point too)
Both TWIGGY groups will come togehter over lunch to chat general NTC – would be good to hear from some former NTC show participants about their time doing this too.
We will also get to see a short Xmas flavoured presentation by Daniel’s Dragonfly group just to lighten the mood a little.
TWIG1 workshop initiants can leave after lunch around 2pm
TWIG2 workshop should arrive about 12.45 and will go through till 4.30pm
All this will be explained in the forthcoming email.
For those reading this and being all a bit confused by new times and the absence of the mention of the “Christmas Social” – there has had to be a slight change of plans – all will be explained in the email that should reach you tomorrow
Other than that …
I hope you have read the text extract and looked at the REmOTE PInterest board at least once.
I need you to bring a ” hard copy ” of your prep sheet ( the questionnaire that was sent to you to complete ) to the workshop. Put your name on them please! Colleen is currently trying to work out a way you could maybe use drop box to send us them – hang off till you hear from her.
I will read these comments over at some point – this way I know that you are all doing the same amount of work for the chance of parts in this , as everyone else…
I would stress , that you should have checked your availibilty for the dates of the project and the rehearsal period that goes with it. Don’t come to these workshops if you can’t do the dates there is no point in me considering you.
BRANCH 2 – Hanging Tree ‘ – should take place on Sunday 29th December and Marcus Guy ( ex PACE and Juilliard Allumni ) will be returning to help me work more closely on movement for this stage of the casting selection.
BRANCH 3 – TWEET Will take place in early January
NTC 15 will then hopefully be cast and ready to go by mid January – we open in the first week of March this year and so we need to get moving quickly to be show ready.
Please double check with Colleen if you have any doubts about your commitment for the project – NTC REmOTE has to come first in everything , while the 6 week project runs.
It is likely we will rehearse over midterm too as this is two weeks before show up.
I have no idea how this casting will go or what I will end up with numbers wise – though 20 is magic eight balling round my mind for some reason as a cast number
There are 9 parts in total this year:
Chorus – the voice of the play
Tree ( leader of the chorus – a Guffin like character I have created within the chorus to voice Antler’s story and the story itself – Artistic license here )
Antler – protagonist
Pivotal players :
Who knows what people will come forward …? It’s all to play for and from tiny acting acorns mighty oaks may once again grow
BRANCH 1 like the ROUND UP of last year’s HERITAGE 14 is about sorting out the expressive ones from the ambivalent ones
I have called it SOUND OFF for a reason , so don’t be coming into this Sunday SPACE shy , retiring and all internal !
Let’s hear your passion !
That goes for the older , seen it , done it , have the tshirt band too.
Can’t wait to get cracking again , I do hope you have all been keeping up with these blogs and emails
Communication and REMoTE are key !
( ps thanks to ” LISA” for the Lichtenstein image – my Arty circle gets ever wider )
