The end of anything is difficult.
The end of a production that has gone on from Septemebr till tonight , even harder.
I took this photo today, I took it to remember two great people that worked with us so closely this Panto season
I know Danny and Karen will be very sad to finish this run , both have said so in their own way and you can see in their faces , how happy they are to be part of us and the memory of Beauty and the Beast 2014.
This has been one of those magic pantos – everything clicked : the set, the cast , the teams, the music , the style …we just seemed to hit gold with every show.
“Beauty and the Beast” offered us the chance to show that we can do more than just sing and dance , it showed what great acting performers we have among us too.
You will all have your own memories of the run , your team now as precious to you as ever , and the feelng of being at home with one another foremost in your mind.
You deserve to feel this way and should be immensely proud of what you have achieved artistically within this show.
I don’t know if you remeber what you were like way back in the middle of September when we first came together, to rehearse the opening song , meet our teams and hear the creative ideas for the show …but I bet you are really different now. I bet you feel like such an important part of PACE, now.
Team 2 are opening ACT 2 as I write this , the last team to go, the last show , the ones who will say Merry Christmas for the last time.
Not a dry eye in the house…well from all truer PACE at least.
It will be a real challenge for David and Jess to decide on the awards for the run – there will have been highs and lows for all teams – the nature of a longer run of any show .
But it’s the stuff that goes on ‘in between’ that counts , the moments that held you together , that kept you strong , determined and a creative stage family along the tougher way. That is what PACE Panto is all about …the things that happen to you , when you least expect it, and how you rise from them.
I remember “the empty feeling” you always get when a show finishes , the inevitable “flatness” that comes out of the creative blue … when you are performing for so long , the mind gets used to working a different way.
It will pass , once Cabaret, comes and goes , and school is back knocking at the door for your attention ( and you need to refocus again quickly – better Performers learn that school and drama can successfully co-exist , only when you understand that balance is everything )
But you still have time to relax …”to let Panto go” …and to enjoy what is left of your holiday.
A New Year begins tomorrow …
I hope you take all the confidence , progress and inspiration you have found somewhere in this show and fire it back into your PACE work next term. Theatre is a giant circle that just keeps turning …turn with it , turn out well.
Even Karen and Danny have to turn their thoughts to new projects , new horizons …new company…an actor’s life is always about change , standing still is never an option.
I thought you’d maybe like to use the comments below to say something , say anything you want , to them , or other members of the casts you worked with …like a panto scrapbook of shared memories – away from the exclusivity of your social media sites , so that you all are able to come together to read it , one last time , especially over the next few days , when you are maybe feeling a bit ‘down’ …because,
“…you just miss it ”
Thanks for everything you brought and gave…this one will live long in the memory …
” a dream come true ”
