So next Saturday night – Saturday 14th June – is rather exciting !!
A vibrant piece of theatre is winging its’ way to our HOME venue and offers us an evening of thrilling entertainment – regal ACTING style !!
A theatre outing not to be missed by those that like their drama “creatively pacey”…
A roaring ensemble of PACE alumni and talented new actors on the British acting scene – I hear a “throned tv” performer is in their midst too, as well as two of our own ” HOME BOYS”
Jordan Blackwood and Daniel Cameorn – former Spires Theatre School performers were always going to be GREAT and already display that ” go out and get it ” attitude to their future that somehow singles out , those that make it , from those that don’t , in this game we call “The Business of Show ‘
Jordan busily forging his career path through Direction ( once a former Verona Captain and trophy winner for Capulet ) and Daniel steadily through Acting ( a recent graduate of RCS and creator of the role of “Charlie” In PACE’s recent TIE show ” I am Me ” ) and now adding playwriting ( a recent member of the Young Scottish Playwright Studio) to his resume.
With Daniel’s writing and Jorndan’s direction – we should know that even just scenes from their latest work – ” When We Were Kings” – is going to provide us with inspired theatre ; that and a host of other theatre scene classics, is enough to leave your average potential future performer “weak at the drama knees”.
So why the Post ?!
Why make the effort to go and see this ?
Well …if you are still now needing convincing , think on “STS” this :
Good Performance only ever gets better when you see what others are doing ” out there ” in drama land
Good Performance only really begins when you break out of your tiny PACE fishbowl and let the wider Scottish , National and International theatre community enlighten and affect you
Good Performance is always about experience and that means experiencing things you are afraid of , for fear of not liking them.
Good Performance is not being lazy to try , even when others won’t go with you because it’s not their thing.
Good Performance is so the need to feed your own creativity with as much culture as is offered by another’s.
Good Performance is forever understanding that theatre exists in many forms out with your usual playing game, out with your youthful domain.
Good Performance demands you open your eyes to a bigger picture of how acting and writing can be, by those that are doing it in a professional context.
Any ” good ” performer know that all of the above matter
Any enlightened person knows that even being audience to Art and Theatre has the same affect.
Good PACE will only happen when good PACE performers see inspired performance and as audience learn from it.
Tempting though another party on Saturday night , or a trip to the cinema or a meal out with your friends may be for you, at this stage, in your younger lives …
think on this …
How many times will you get to see really exciting theatre , in your own theatre venue with drama friends who share your passion and to be able to add it to your cultural resume for future use , and be supportive of two fine ex PACE members into the bargain ?!
Jordan and Daniel , were excellent examples of PACE – ORION students – the best of the best – and are both hoping, along with their fellow cast to raise money to take their roaring play “ When We Were Kings ” to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year – a fantastically important launch pad for theatre productions and theatre ensembles.
(Those doing “Whispers” with me in summer , will learn a little more of this world class festival)
The theatre world is a difficult one to predict , but I would say that the potential of their play, is as exciting as many other new works on the scene, and that with the right venue and good audience sizes and a ” Fringe First ” under their belts – the sky’s the limit next year , for this bright young company of actors.
Everyone needs a theatre dream to aspire to …everyone needs a bit of creative vision in their lives , from the youngest most inexperienced amongst us , to the oldest most seasoned.
Let’s hope some of you make a real effort to come and support this leonine theatrical fundraiser on Saturday night
I am going to be there myself and am so looking forward to seeing how Jordan and Daniel have taken their Spires Time and shone with it through their further education.
Tickets are on sale now at PACE Box office – Saturday 14th June, Wynd Centre Auditorium , price £7
Come on PACE , come on Spires theatre School – let’s go see some THEATRE!!
