“A random bunch of wood – OMG ( oh Mhairi Gilbert!) what’s that all about?”
Think of the title of the blog ?
Well…It may look like they are all different but if you take a step back from this – you will see they are all the same!
After our ” honest talk ” last week – with the “ego” ball – we know now we are not so very different – the same insecurities plague us all and follow us like lead weights into the drama space each week.
But can we call ourselves a work of art like the “Tate Modern Gallery” exhibit photo above does?
Mmmm….not sure? But consider this if you have the time or inclination.
As we near the end of the “Chrysalis Autumn Programme” – a question leaps out at us from the white wood masses.
– Do we want to be any different?
– Do we want to be our own Creative Drama instillation in PACE?
Something bolder – brighter – more theatrical – totally more eye catching ?! And I’m not taking about just the way we present ourselves when we walk in the room – “looks” don’t make the person here – it’s what inside that counts. That’s why we take you “back to black” to remove the style and add the personality.
Or is in “the white wood” a better place to stay – among the hundreds of other blocks that form a more obscure picture?
My money is on the second picture – you can’t beat neon light to draw a crowd! A bit of colour is always good to see in something – that and the spark of electricity!
What did Billy Elliot say again – ” Like electricity… deep inside of me? ”
Well if the song shoe fits – use it!
And my point in all this “arty” talk ?
My point is simply this :”show your true colour”
Don’t bland out and just be wooden – much as I love wood ( and I do) in drama-speak it is so restrictive – it has no movement – no feeling – no shape other than to be solid. “It is so last season….”
But light! Any light is captivating – light is all colours – all dimensions – light brings a brighter presence to any space it fills.
You want to light up Spires 1 when you are there not “white out” and hope you’ll not be noticed – what’s the point in that ?
You come to be considered don’t you? Like Oliver… To ask for more…So let’s see what you have to offer in a lighter way!
After this short programme…what next for you?
For some Mother Goose … For others PACE Christmas Project for sure – then what?
For an enlightened few this could be the start of something really special.
With “National Theatre Connections 2014” on the horizon next January and the prospect of a really great play to sink your young theatre teeth into – what would it take for you to consider that this could be your PACE future?
Why don’t you just switch on your dramalight and see…
In PACE you have 2 choices – :
Clock’s ticking Chrysalis…
Time for me to really see you.
